Leida Nieves Joins Kutztown University as Executive Director of Financial Aid Services

From Kutztown University

Leida Nieves has been named executive director of Financial Aid Services at Kutztown University. Nieves began her role on Monday, Sept. 29, and brought more than 20 years of higher education experience to KU.

Nieves spent nearly 15 years at Daytona State College, Daytona Beach, FL, including the last year as director of Financial Aid Services. She managed the day-to-day operations of the financial aid office and processed federal, state, and institutional funds for student use. She led a team ranging from 10 to 20 employees, providing frequent training to stay up to date with the ever-changing landscape of financial aid.

“As a first-generation college student, who came from a low-income background, financial aid played a pivotal role in my pursuit of a college education — I would not be where I am today without it,” Nieves said. “As an advocate of the FAFSA, I encourage students to seek all financial opportunities to lessen their financial responsibility in their pursuit of a college education. This will allow students to focus on their academic success. I am ecstatic to work with my team here in Financial Aid Services to assist our Kutztown University students with navigating the financial aid landscape and bridging their financial gaps.”

Prior to Daytona State, Nieves spent two years as a financial aid counselor at Bethune-Cookman University, Daytona Beach, FL, where she worked with students on eligibility while awarding financial aid.

Nieves earned a Bachelor of Arts in forensic psychology from John Jay College of Criminal Justice, a Master of Science in higher education administration from Southern New Hampshire University, and a certificate in student success coaching.
