Leter: State needs to do more for lower-income residents

Editor:

Why did Gov. Tom Wolf set the proposed income limit at $80,000 for a potential stimulus check from Pennsylvania (“Wolf’s stimulus checks plan stalls,” Reading Eagle, July 19)?

I think that’s ridiculous. If he had lowered the income limit, I think the Republican politicians would have passed his proposal. That $80,000 mark was a big mistake.

Pennsylvania politicians should be ashamed of themselves. So many other states have given their citizens a stimulus check, but not Pennsylvania. Republican politicians here simply do not care about lower-income citizens and especially the elderly, handicapped, and disabled citizens. I put the blame on the Pennsylvanians who voted for the Republicans in the state Senate. They are an abomination.
