Letter: A welcome effort to help teens learn safe driving

Teaching the well-worn practices of driver safety to our teen drivers is finally getting a boost through the help and research of the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Let’s hope this will make a difference and reduce the harsh statistics we now see. The CHOP Center for Injury Research and Prevention has found various safety issues that will allow it to develop interventions to improve safe driving habits of teens.

Educating our novice motorists will make them safer drivers now and for years into adulthood. They can become ambassadors for safe driving campaigns against texting while driving and drunken driving as well as the many other distracted driving behaviors that are on our roads today.

All of us need to take responsibility for driving safely anytime we are behind the wheel of a vehicle and be the example for our youthful driver. The life we save may be our own.
