Letter: American crybabies should learn from Afghanistan

Editor:

I was moved to tears as I watched the winner of the Paralympics 400-meter women’s freestyle swimming event during the playing of the U.S. national anthem. Her face had a strained look, and she was shuffling slightly as she struggled successfully to stand at attention during the entire anthem without a cane or rail on the podium. Underwater shots during the swimming race showed both her legs had been amputated above the knees.

What a contrast to the U.S. Olympic women’s soccer team, whose players knelt on the field and showed disrespect for our country on the world stage.

During the American retreat from Afghanistan, the U.S. crybabies could learn about the different treatment of women in other countries. According to reports, the entire Afghan women’s soccer team fled the country for fear of total assassination.
Women in Afghanistan recently have been shot on the spot for not wearing a burqa, or have had her fingers cut off for wearing nail polish.
