Editor:
I found statistics that contradict many of the opinions in “Trump’s opponents overlook significant Biden flaws” (Reading Eagle, Feb. 12).
More Americans have jobs than at any time during the Trump administration. Former President Donald Trump left President Joe Biden with a 6.3% unemployment rate. It was 3.7% at the end of 2023. We produce more oil today than at any time in our history. Biden’s administration holds daily press briefings; Trump suspended them for over 300 days. Violent crime dropped from 2020 to 2022.
Biden has an affable personality, especially when compared with the overbearing, arrogant Trump. The vacation numbers in days out of office between Biden and Trump are similar. Inflation has made it harder to buy a home or car, but income increases have exceeded inflation rates in many job sectors. The U.S. border is not open; it’s highly regulated. An open border is what Pennsylvania has with New Jersey – free movement with no ID checks.
Biden doesn’t spend long stretches of his days in executive time or doing rallies like Trump. Biden doesn’t govern via social media. Biden is a career politician, which is great since the presidency is a political job. Biden works hard by attending briefings, reading reports and understanding how the federal government works. Trump never tried. To hide his ignorance Republicans allege a deep-state conspiracy.
The letter concludes, “We need to apply logic in our next election, and actions speak louder than words,” I couldn’t agree more.
