To all those who believe, friends of mine among them, that according to Bible prophecy, God will come down and smite all their enemies and cleanse the world of unrighteousness, I would suggest that Ezekiel, Daniel and Revelation are not the core of the Bible (“People must seek out God in this time of sinfulness,” Reading Eagle, Sept. 28).
If one wants to know what the Bible has to say to the world, a better place to start is to read the Gospels, and especially John 3:16-17. Sometimes it seems God’s grace is for all humankind, not just for people who are like me.
As long as humans have walked the Earth, tribalism and hate have been the rule, not the exception. God is love. Christians are called to love one another, even those whose sins we believe are far worse than our own.
