Letter: Failure to enforce the law brings chaos to Reading

Editor:
Regarding “Total chaos” (Reading Eagle, May 2), Reading’s mayor and City Council never properly addressed the issues on Skyline Drive, and now there is a bigger problem at City Park. This is what happens when you don’t enforce the law.

The son of a retired police officer feared for his life while driving through City Park. He called 911 and was told police couldn’t do anything because of being grossly understaffed. What an embarrassing statement about law enforcement. If the Reading police don’t have the manpower to handle a situation like that, then call in the state police and the sheriff’s department.

It’s clear that lawbreakers are taking over the city. They seem now to be above the law.
