Letter: Investigations essential to restoring faith in elections

Editor:

There is widespread interest in possible fraud in the 2020 presidential election. One side has been attempting to audit the election in various states, Pennsylvania included, to the end of finding whether or not election or voter fraud occurred. The other side often says that fraud doesn’t exist, despite the undeniable fact of numerous convictions from other elections. Those who deny election fraud exists are sadly misinformed and need to do their own research.

Voter fraud and election fraud exist despite the claims of no evidence.

There are cries that disputing the results of an election and calling for audits are undermining our confidence in elections. Obviously confidence in elections has been undermined both by those who claim that fraud occurred and by those who vigorously deny fraud and disparage any attempt at fact-finding.

The reasonable way forward that should satisfy both sides of the argument is to have a full audit by an accredited independent agency. Let the results be fully disseminated. If there was fraud, it will be uncovered. If there is no fraud then we can move ahead.
Leaving the question of fraud in dispute is not moving forward and does not help anyone.
