Letter: No single political party has monopoly on fraud

Editor:

“Lehigh County report raises election questions,” (Reading Eagle, April 14) states that people placed multiple ballots in drop box locations in the 2021 (non-presidential) election.

While there may be evidence of that occurring in Lehigh and other Pennsylvania counties, the letter implies that it is only Democratic voters who are guilty of doing this. It simply is not true.

Election officials have said that a certain amount of fraud occurs in every election. In the 2020 presidential election, there was a minimal amount of fraud detected. But as U.S. Attorney General William Barr told then-President Donald Trump in 2020, not enough existed that would have changed the outcome of the election.

In fact, there is evidence that there were fraudulent votes cast for Trump. Residents in a Florida retirement community casting multiple votes for the former president. So to imply that one party is more guilty than another is poppycock. In reality, the 2020 election was fair and free of any result-changing fraud.

Most people, both Democrats and Republicans, would like to move on from the discussion of the 2020 race. But the “Big Lie” that the election was stolen from Trump lives on. That’s because the sore loser former president refuses to let it die.
