Editor:
I’m not in favor of the property tax increase enacted by the Berks County commissioners. A 9% tax hike is too much at one time. Why didn’t they increase the taxes 2% or 3% a year for the past four years? This is not what Berks senior citizens want or need. Many of them are on fixed incomes and can’t afford this increase. Maybe county leaders need to do some belt tightening in all departments.
The farmers surely do not like this news. My husband and I are retired farmers.
