Letter: State Legislature failing to meet its responsibilities

Editor:

In last spring’s primary, Pennsylvania voters were asked to take the responsibility for responding to emergencies away from the governor and put it into the state Legislature’s hands.

Now Pennsylvania hospitals are at or beyond capacity, health care workers are at their breaking point and COVID-19 testing centers are overwhelmed with people looking for tests.

What exactly have legislators done in response? What have they done to keep us safe? Exactly what so many of us knew they would do: nothing.

The Legislature has completely abandoned its responsibility to the people of Pennsylvania.
It now should be crystal clear why eroding the separation of powers between branches of the government is a terrible idea.

The next time the state Legislature asks you to put more power in their hands, tell them no.
