Letter: Things were much better when Trump was in charge

Editor:

Now that the next presidential election is rapidly approaching and former President Donald Trump is the heavy favorite to be the Republican nominee, the never-Trumpers are coming out of the woodwork.

Ask yourself, am I better off than I was four years ago? I believe most Americans would say no. When Trump was president, the southern border was secure. President Joe Biden’s policies allowed 10 million illegal immigrants to walk into our country. As a result, migrants are roaming the streets of New York and Chicago and attacking police.

Instead of helping veterans, many of whom are homeless, mayors are giving millions of dollars to migrants in the form of prepaid debit cards.

All was calm on Europe’s eastern front and Russian President Vladimir Putin was quiet as a mouse. Iran was nearly bankrupt thanks to Trump sanctions, and Hamas was hiding in tunnels in Gaza.

American family incomes rose by nearly $5,000 a year and the word “inflation” was unheard of. America was energy independent for the first time and gas prices were under $3 a gallon.

How is Bidenomics working out for most Americans? Renters are spending between 30% and 50% more of their income on rent. Grocery prices have risen 20% and food banks struggle to meet demand.

The Trump years were the good old days, and four more years could be even better.
