Letter: Two-tiered justice system benefits former president

Editor:

I agree that there is a two-tiered justice system (“Americans mustn’t tolerate two-tiered justice system,” Reading Eagle, March 26). If any average citizen would have done the things former President Donald Trump did, they would have been in jail a long time ago. It has always been amazing to me that money can buy your way out of almost anything. It’s just a matter of how much you can afford.

Questioning the credibility of the “star witness” in the New York blackmail case? I see that there are two star witnesses in this case. As for Trump’s ability to pay the bond to allow an appeal in the case involving his company’s finances, the former president himself said he had $500 million in cash, so paying the bond should never have been an issue (unless he was lying).

Classified documents? Government officials tried repeatedly to get him to turn over the classified documents he had. He refused, going as far as trying to hide them. When Biden was asked about documents in his possession, he gave investigators access to all of them and even allowed them to search his properties.

The racketeering charge in Atlanta? I think by now everyone has heard Trump’s “perfect phone call” and the huge effort he and his cronies put forth to overturn the will of the people in Georgia.
