Reading, PA: Mayor Eddie Morán and the City of Reading, in collaboration with the Foundation for the Reading Pagoda, are excited to announce that on Christmas Eve, a Reading Fire Department truck will blink its lights from the Pagoda parking lot to assist Santa Claus in finding his way to
Reading.
At 9:00 PM, the fire truck’s lights will flash, symbolizing the historic tradition of the Pagoda’s lights blinking to guide Santa’s sleigh.
Although ongoing renovations have prevented the Pagoda’s lights from flashing last year and this year, the City of Reading is determined to keep the spirit of the tradition alive. Mayor Eddie Morán expressed his enthusiasm for the event, saying: “The Pagoda holds a special place in the hearts of our residents, and this holiday tradition is a beautiful example of our community coming together. While challenges continue to prevent the Pagoda’s lights from
flashing this year, I am proud that we’ve found a creative way to keep this cherished custom alive. I encourage families to join us in celebrating the magic of the season by blinking their own Christmas lights to help guide Santa to Reading.”
Community members are invited to gather in the Pagoda parking lot to witness this special moment. While the Pagoda building itself will not be accessible, the gates will be open from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. The Pagoda is located at 98 Duryea Drive, Reading, PA 19602
