Meet BCTV’s Spring Interns: Angie Silva Garcia and Molly Shiery

Berks Community Television (BCTV) recently welcomed two new interns — Molly Shiery and Angie Silva Garcia — to its team for the Spring 2025 semester. They will help with content creation for BCTV’s digital platforms, provide technical and control room support for studio programming in the Visions studio, and take on various roles in special projects and initiatives.

Meet the Interns

Angie Silva Garcia is a senior Cinema, Television, and Media Production major at Kutztown University (KU). She told BCTV that her passion for sound design drives her to take as many classes at the university related to sound design as possible.

“I was interested in joining the BCTV team because I consider them to be a platform that informs the community in a creative and solid way,” Silva Garcia stated. “Moreover, I believe that this internship will offer me the opportunity to help my community.”

During her time at BCTV, Silva Garcia is most eager to learn about how to properly operate equipment, such as lights, cameras, and TriCaster. In addition, she will spend a portion of her time working with Barrio Alegría to create content and features as the Reading-based organization prepares to celebrate their 10th anniversary.

In her free time, she enjoys exploring new places with her family.

Molly Shiery is a senior Cinema, Television, and Media Production major at KU. In addition to her coursework, she is the Website Manager for the Keystone Newspaper Student Publishing Group at the university, an on-campus collaborative publishing alliance that provides support for students interested in publishing.

When asked what inspired her to pursue an internship with BCTV, Shiery stated, “I have lived in this community my whole life, and I thought it would be a great opportunity to pursue an internship in community media to get involved.”

During her time at BCTV, Shiery is most eager to apply what she has learned at KU while gaining real-world experience.

In her free time, she enjoys photography, collecting vinyl, and going to concerts.
