On Saturday, Sept. 14, NAMI Berks County PA will host its second annual 5K run/walk entitled, “It’s Okay to Not Be Okay,” at Grings Mill Recreation Area, at 2083 Tulpehocken Road, Reading. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. The race will begin at 9:30 a.m. And the award ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m.

Our event last September turned out to be a wonderful day. As September is Suicide Awareness month, we placed flags along the run/walk path to signify every person who died by suicide in Berks County over the past year. With over 120 runners and walkers, it was truly an impactful moment as they passed each flag.

NAMI Berks County PA is a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Public Charity that provides support, education, and advocacy to those suffering from a mental health condition and their loved ones. Everything NAMI provides is at no charge.

  • Provide support groups for those afflicted with mental health issues, and for their families and loved ones.
  • Conduct educational classes for both those with a mental health issue and for their families and loved ones.
  • Advocate with our presentations to schools, administration, teachers, parents, and the general public.
  • Provide resources for those suffering and in need of support.

We are only able to do this with the generous support of our community. The need for mental health services is at an all-time high. We are growing tremendously, trying our best to serve everyone that suffers and their loved ones in Berks County.
