Penn State Extension to Host LIFTed Program

Penn State Extension of Berks County will host LIFTed, an eight-week virtual live webinar program that will run from Tuesday, July 23 to Thursday, Sept. 12.

Make a commitment to grow stronger and feel better about yourself! LIFTed is a safe, simple, and effective strength training program that is conducted virtually.

LIFTed is an eight-week virtual live group-based at-home strength training program for adults 40+. Participation in LIFTed may result in improvements in functional fitness or the ability to perform activities of daily living with ease. Participants are encouraged to work towards achieving their own personal goals in a group setting.

Who is this for?

Men and women 40 years of age and older and are interested in improving their health, vitality, and well-being. Participants should be comfortable using Zoom technology and have a reliable internet connection.

Strength training offers physical, mental, and emotional benefits, including:

  • Increased muscle mass and strength
  • Improved bone density
  • Reduced risk for osteoporosis and related fractures
  • Reduced risk of diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, depression, and obesity
  • Improved self-confidence, sleep, and vitality
  • Improved balance

  • A five-minute warm-up
  • Eight to 12 strength training exercises to promote proper body positioning, flexibility, and posture
  • Easy-to-use nutrition information for improved health
  • A five-minute cool-down
