Ravens promote practice squad offensive tackle, cornerback for game vs. Cleveland Browns

The Ravens on Saturday activated offensive tackle David Sharpe and cornerback Robert Jackson from the practice squad ahead of Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns.

Sharpe, 26, who played nine snaps in a Week 7 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, was called up to provide depth along the offensive line. Starting right tackle Patrick Mekari was ruled out of Sunday’s game with a hand injury after not practicing all week, and Tyre Phillips is expected to start in his place.

Jackson, 28, appeared in 16 games over the previous two seasons for the Browns. He played on special teams in the Ravens’ 20-19 loss Sunday to the Pittsburgh Steelers, when star cornerback Marlon Humphrey suffered a season-ending pectoral muscle injury.

Cornerbacks Anthony Averett (knee) and Chris Westry (thigh) were listed as questionable for Sunday, though both were full participants in practice Friday. Cornerback and special teams contributor Kevon Seymour (illness) was limited Wednesday and Thursday by illness but is expected to play.

The Ravens also added a knee designation to fullback Patrick Ricard’s injury report. He was already questionable to play because of a back injury.

In Cleveland, the Browns activated inside linebacker Jacob Phillips, who appeared in nine games as a rookie last season and recorded 24 tackles. He was placed on injured reserve with a bicep injury before the season.
