Reading School District scraps proposed high school schedule change

No changes are planned to the current school-day schedule at Reading High School.

The school day starts at 7:30 a.m. and ends at 2:40 p.m.

“It has come to our attention that some students at Reading High School received information about a proposed plan to change the bell schedule to occur after the Thanksgiving break,” said Kristine Parkes, director of communications for the school district.

Although, the plan was considered as a possible solution for ongoing staffing concerns at the high school, Parkes said, the school district decided against it.

“Reading High School’s current bell schedule will continue after the Thanksgiving break,” she said.

Parkes said the school district will continue working on solutions to address staffing concerns at the high school and will communicate with the appropriate stakeholders if decisions are made.

Bell times for the high school, Reading-Muhlenberg Career & Technology Center and lower grades can be found on the school district website at https://www.readingsd.org/schedule.
