Registration is Open for an Eight-Week LIFT Program

Penn State Extension of Berks County will host an eight-week LIFT program that will run from Tuesday, Sept. 17 to Thursday, Nov. 7, in Pottsville.

Get motivated, energized, and inspired while increasing your strength, flexibility, and enthusiasm! LIFT’s group-based strength-training program can help you gain confidence and improve your body and life.

LIFT (Lifelong Improvements through Fitness Together) is an in-person, group-based strength training program for adults aged 40+. Participation in LIFT may result in improvements in functional fitness or the ability to perform activities of daily living with ease. Participants are encouraged to work towards achieving their own personal goals in a group setting.

Who is this for?

Men and women 40 years of age and older are interested in improving their health, vitality, and well-being. Strength training offers physical, mental, and emotional benefits, including:

  • Increased muscle mass and strength
  • Improved bone density
  • Reduced risk for osteoporosis and related fractures
  • Reduced risk of diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, depression, and obesity
  • Improved self-confidence, sleep, and vitality
  • Improved balance

What will you learn?

  • 5-minute warm-up
  • 8-12 strength-training exercises to promote proper body positioning, flexibility, and posture
  • Easy-to-use nutrition information
  • 5-minute cooldown

Some insurances may reimburse participants with 80% or better attendance. Please contact your insurance provider for more information.
