From The Junior League of Reading
The Junior League of Reading, PA, Inc. will host its 18th annual Touch-a-Truck event on Sunday, April 27, in partnership with The Fightin Phils, at FirstEnergy Stadium, 1900 Centre Ave., from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. A sensory-friendly hour will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m. for those who prefer a quieter environment. Tickets are $10 for those 13 and up and free for those 12 and under. Tickets can be purchased in advance at jlreading.org/touch-a-truck/, or you can find our event page by visiting the Junior League of Reading on Facebook. Tickets can also be purchased the day of the event at FirstEnergy Stadium.
At Touch-a-Truck, kids of all ages will have the opportunity to see, climb in, and explore their favorite trucks during this fun and exciting interactive event. They will get to learn about vehicles that work in health and safety, public works, construction, landscaping, and more. The event will also highlight various vendors in the community selling jewelry and goods, education on various community resources and services, and entertainment on the Fightin’s stage! This family-friendly event also offers games, music, a bounce house, entertainment, Papa Taiter magician, Birthday Buddies bringing fan favorite Bluey from 12-1 p.m., and the Fightin Phils Screwball mascot will also be coming. There will also be food and beverages available for sale from the Fightins concessions stands. Additional offerings such as the Roaming Railroad, face painting, and phunland access will be available for an additional cost.
The support of the Junior League of Reading goes towards many efforts throughout the year, however, its signature project is the Young Women’s Summit. The Junior League of Reading is immensely proud of this annual two-weekend program for middle school girls, curated and facilitated by its volunteers. During the Young Women’s Summit, participants learn about connecting with themselves, each other, and their community. Attendees provide service learning projects to several local non-profits, including Safe Berks, Animal Rescue League, Mary’s Shelter, Veterans Making a Difference, Opportunity House, and many others.
