This week’s Berks college football games: September 24, 2022

Lycoming (0-0 MAC Commonwealth, 1-1) vs. Albright (0-1, 0-3)

When, where: Saturday, noon, Shirk Stadium, Reading.

Last week: Albright lost 28-14 at home to Misericordia. Lycoming had a bye after beating Lebanon Valley 21-20 on the road Sept. 10.

Notable: Lycoming leads the series 37-20-2 since 1957, including a 28-7 win at home last season. … Albright, which has lost 10 straight, is averaging 11.7 points per game. … Linebacker Sam Viera continues to lead the MAC in tackles at 12.7 per game. Teammate Daniel Vital, also a linebacker, is third at 10.7. … Antietam grad Johnny Day, a junior defensive back to played for Exeter, is on the Lycoming roster.

Shepherd (3-0) at Kutztown (2-1)

When, where: Saturday, noon, Andre Reed Stadium, Kutztown.

Last week: Kutztown defeated Mercyhurst 50-31 on the road. Shepherd beat California (Pa.) 26-23 in overtime at home.

Notable: The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East opener for both teams. … Series is tied 2-2. Kutztown won 37-29 last year in the regular season at Shepherd, then lost 30-28 at home on a Hail Mary pass by Tyler Bagent as time expired in an NCAA Division II quarterfinal. … Shepherd is ranked No. 5 in Division II. … Coach Jim Clements has 61 wins at Kutztown, tied with George Baldwin for the program record. … Former KU great John Mobley, who won two Super Bowls as a linebacker with the Denver Broncos, will be recognized at Saturday’s game. He is being presented with his college degree, the KU President’s Medal and being inducted into the KU Athletics Hall of Fame later Saturday.
