Three Days Grace, Daddy Yankee concerts announced for Santander Arena

Two new shows were announced today for Santander Arena, Reading: multiplatinum-selling Canadian band Three Days Grace will perform Aug. 3 in support of its seventh studio album, “Explosions,” being released May 6; and global music icon Daddy Yankee will perform Dec. 10 as part of his farewell tour, “La Ultima Vuelta” (The Last Round), and his final album “Legendaddy,” released March 24. Tickets for both shows go on sale to the general public Friday at 10 a.m. at ticketmaster.com.

Since 2003, Three Days Grace has staked a spot among the hard rock vanguard. In 2015, “Human” marked the group’s second straight No. 1 slot on the Billboard Top Hard Rock Albums Chart, as well as their fourth consecutive debut in the Top 20. It spawned two No. 1 singles, “Painkiller” and “I Am Machine,” signaling the band’s 13th overall and fifth consecutive No. 1s on the U.S. Active Rock Radio chart.

The band today released its new music video for the song “Lifetime” from the upcoming album. The video was filmed in Mayfield, Kentucky, which was devastated by a tornado on Dec. 10. This hit home for the band, as guitarist Barry Stock lives in the area, and band taped the music video for the song in the town to raise awareness and funds to help them rebuild.

Three Days Grace has partnered with PLUS1 so that $1 of every concert ticket will go to support tornado recovery efforts in Mayfield. Proceeds will benefit the Mayfield Tornado Relief Fund and Mayfield Independent School District.

The band released a statement saying: “’Lifetime’ is about loss. It also speaks to the human condition to push forward and put one foot in front of the other even when you wake up and your world is turned upside down.”

Daddy Yankee on Sunday night posted a message to his fans on www.daddyyankee.com announcing his retirement from the music industry after the upcoming tour.

“Today, I’m announcing my retirement from music by giving you my best production and my best concert tour,” he wrote. “I will say goodbye celebrating these 32 years of experience with this new collector’s item, the album ‘Legendaddy.’ I’m going to give you all the styles that have defined me, in one single album.”

“Legendaddy” is Daddy Yankee’s first album in 10 years. He is known as the “King of Reggaeton” by music critics and fans alike. He is often cited as an influence by other Latin urban performers. In 2004, he released his international hit single “Gasolina,” which is credited with introducing Reggaeton to audiences worldwide. Since then, he has sold around 30 million records, making him one of the best-selling Latin music artists.

In 2017, Daddy Yankee, in collaboration with Latin pop singer Luis Fonsi, released the hit single “Despacito.” It became the first Spanish-language song to hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 since 1996. In 2021, he released “Problema,” which has accumulated over 1 billion streams.
