Wilson grad Bryn Underwood of American voted Patriot League Tournament MVP in field hockey

Wilson grad Bryn Underwood was voted the Patriot League Field Hockey Tournament MVP Saturday for helping American University win its 12th league championship.

Underwood, a sophomore goalie, made two saves in a 2-1 win over Lafayette. Wilson grad Emily Horace, also a sophomore at American, scored her second goal of the season in the win.

Underwood made seven saves on Thursday in a 1-0 Patriot League Tournament semifinal win over Lehigh.

Underwood was voted to the All-Patriot League first team and was named the conference’s Goalie of the Year. She was the Patriot League Rookie of the Year during the 2021 spring season.

During the regular season, Underwood had an .802 save  percentage and a 1.25 goals-against average.

American is ranked 17th in the country and has earned a berth in the NCAA Tournament.
