Wilson grad Reagan Underwood representing U.S. as member of U-21 Women’s National Team in field hockey

Wilson grad Reagan Underwood is representing the United States as a member of the U-21 United States Women’s National Field Hockey Team at the FIH Women’s Junior World Cup at Santiago, Chile.

Underwood, who recently completed her senior season at Liberty, has helped the U.S. go 3-1 through its first four games.

The United States played Chile on Thursday. It has one game remaining after that.

The United States beat Japan 2-1 in its opener, then lost 5-2 to England before beating New Zealand 6-2.

Despite finishing with a 2-1 record in Pool D, the same as England and Japan, the Americans did not advance due to goal differential. England was at plus 5, Japan at plus 3, and the U.S. at plus 2.

The United States beat Canada 8-0 in a crossover game on Tuesday.

Underwood helped the U.S. qualify for the event by winning the Junior Pan American Championship in April. She had the U.S.’s only goal in regulation and scored the clincher in the shootout in the victory over Argentina in the final.

This season for Liberty, Underwood, a midfielder/back, was named to the All-Big East first team after registering five goals, two of them game-winners, and six assists in 20 games, all starts, for the Flames (7-0 Big East, 17-3).

Liberty won the Big East regular season title and qualified for the NCAA Tournament.
