Berks Country calendar Feb. 23

Feb. 28:

Leesport Area Historical Society, 308 Main St., Leesport, 7 p.m., business meeting followed by show and tell of a historical item. Meeting held at Bethany EC Church. Park in rear of church.

March 2:

Drive-up ashes for Ash Wednesday, Advent Lutheran Church, 2205 Penn Ave., West Lawn, will offer 7 to 8 a.m. and 5 to 6 p.m. Enter the parking lot from Penn Avenue and you will receive ashes, a prayer and a brochure explaining the meaning of Ash Wednesday. Parking lot attendants will help direct you.

Author visit from L.D. Zane, Muhlenberg Community Library, 3612 Kutztown Road, Laureldale, 6 p.m. “It’s Always My Fault & Other Short Stories” will be available for purchase. Cost is $20, cash only. A portion of the proceeds supports Veterans Making a Difference. Registration is suggested: 610-929-0589

March 5:

Bausman United Church of Christ, 1064 Penn Ave., Wyomissing, pork and homemade sauerkraut take-out dinner. Pick up is from 3:30-5:30 p.m. The dinner includes roast pork with homemade sauerkraut or mashed potatoes, three-bean salad, apple sauce and a desert. Cost is $10 for adults and $6 for children 5-12. Orders must be submitted by noon on March 1. To place orders, call the church office at 610-375-9790 or email to office@bausmanucc.org.

Spring Valley Boutique, Spring Valley Church of God, 2727 Old Pricetown Road, Muhlenberg Township, 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Most items are free and may include clothing for men, women and children, shoes, handbags and jewelry.

March 7:

Italian hoagie sale, Pioneer Grange, 46 E Keller St., Topton. Deadline to order is Feb 27. Cost: $5. Pickup March 7 from 3-5 p.m. at the Grange hall. To order, call Tammy at 610-463-7213.

March 13:

Strausstown Fire Company breakfast, 50 East Ave., Strausstown, 7:30-11:30 a.m. A full breakfast menu will be available. Proceeds benefit the Apparatus Fund.

March 19:

25 cent sale (clothing, shoes, books, household and more),indoor flea market and basket raffle, Calvary United Church of Christ, 1231 Route 100, Barto, 8 to 11 a.m.

March 20:

Gift card bingo sponsored by the Lions Club of Boyertown, Keystone Fire Company, 240 N. Walnut St., Boyertown, doors open at 1 p.m.; games start at 2. All proceeds benefit local charities along with sight/hearing/diabetes research. Food will be available for purchase to benefit the fire company.
