There may be more players unavailable than actually on the floor for Thursday night’s game between the 76ers and Celtics in Boston.
Tyrese Maxey missed his second straight game with a back sprain, while Paul George’s sore left groin cost him another game Thursday night.
Maxey was injured in Monday’s loss to Portland, leaving in the third quarter after a hard fall. He didn’t play in Tuesday’s 126-112 loss in Minnesota. That was part of the reason why George pushed his groin to be available with the 76ers short on bodies, but he played just 30 minutes against the Wolves.
Justin Edwards, who re-sprained his left ankle in the final minute against Portland and missed out in Minnesota, was available after being listed as questionable.
Against the free-falling 76ers, losers of 13 of 15, the Celtics took the opportunity to rest players on the second half of a back-to-back. A night after getting 43 points from Payton Pritchard and 41 from Derrick White to beat the Blazers, 128-118, the Celtics listed Jaylen Brown (right knee) and Al Horford (left big toe) as out. Both had played the night before.
Kristaps Porzingis (illness) missed his fourth straight game, while Jrue Holiday (right hand) was out for the fourth straight game and ninth in the last 12.
Jayson Tatum, who missed Wednesday resting a right shoulder issue, was available.
