Franz Wagner leaves Magic’s home game vs. Heat with sprained right ankle

Orlando Magic second-year forward Franz Wagner left Saturday’s home game against the Miami Heat because of a sprained right ankle, the team announced during the fourth quarter.

Heat guard Kyle Lowry fell on Wagner’s ankle as both were trying to get up the floor after a Miami missed basket with around nine minutes remaining in the game.

Play continued for about 20 seconds, with Wagner hobbling on the ankle until Magic coach Jamahl Mosley was able to call a timeout.

Wagner went back into the locker room to get checked out by the trainer, with the team later announcing he wouldn’t return.

X-rays on Wagner’s right ankle were negative, the Magic said, before adding the diagnosis was a sprain.

Wagner finished with 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting, 8 rebounds and 6 assists in 29 minutes.
