Lonnie Walker IV signs one-year deal, leaving Brooklyn Nets

Former Reading High star Lonnie Walker IV has agreed to a one-year deal with the Boston Celtics, according to a report by ESPN.

Walker’s agent George S. Langberg of GSL Sports Group told ESPN on Wednesday night that Walker had signed with the Celtics.

Walker, 25, averaged 9.7 points a game and shot 38% on three-pointers in 58 games for Brooklyn last season.

In 2017, Walker led Reading High to its first state basketball championship with a 64-60 win over Pine-Richland. He had 22 points, eight rebounds, four steals, and three assists in the game.

He was the Pennsylvania Basketball Player his senior year and a McDonald’s High School All-American.

He then played one year at the University of Miami before the San Antonio Spurs picked him in the first round of the 2018 NBA Draft with the 18th pick.

At Miami, he was named to the Atlantic Coast Conference All-Freshman Team.

He played for the Spurs from 2018-2022 and then with the Los Angeles Lakers for one season before going to Brooklyn last year.
