Roaring good time at 1920s Speakeasy; Our Town Foundation hosts sold-out Speakeasy Murder Mystery

A password gained community members entry into the Our Town Foundation’s Speakeasy Murder Mystery event, as the new 1787 Brewing Company in Hamburg was transported to the Roaring 1920s.

The sold-out event on May 5 encouraged attendees to dress in their best glad rags of the 1920s for a chance to win a door prize.

VIRGINVILLE CAR SHOW: 21 trophies presented to top cars, trucks, motorcycles

This year’s edition of the annual Virginville Fire Company Car Show was held on May 6. Unlike last year, this time around Mother Nature dealt the fire company a beautiful spring day for their event. Despite a bridge on Route 143 south of Virginville being closed, a nice assortment of cars, trucks and motorcycles found their way to the fire company grounds for the camaraderie and scheduled events that consisted of all-day food, music and door prizes along with raffle tickets and a 50/50 drawing in addition to the awarding of 21 beautiful trophies.

Schuylkill Valley High School received the EF High School Exchange Year Global Education Excellence Award for demonstrating an extraordinary commitment to international understanding and global awareness.

Pioneer Grange hosts Community Night

The Pioneer Grange in Topton held its annual Community Night Program on April 19. This is a night to honor grange members and get the community involved.

Several members were presented with awards for their many years of grange membership. Anna Moyer and Daisy Pensinger each received 65-year membership awards, Willard and Barbara Grim and David and Cheryl Reppert each received 50-year membership awards, and Holly Allen received a 40-year membership award.

Virginville Grange celebrates community donations and membership

The Grange organization may be the nation’s oldest farm organization, but during evening festivities on May 2, Virginville Grange proved that although the group has kept roots in rural America, it has evolved into so much more. Today, the Grange is a family organization dedicated to the betterment of the American way of life through community service, education, legislation, and fellowship.

Wagner-Good Post of VFW and Behler-Hein American Legion host Hamburg Memorial Day Parade

The Wagner-Good Post of the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars and the Behler-Hein American Legion Post will once again host a Memorial Day Parade and ceremony in the Borough of Hamburg.

The parade will be held on Monday, May 28, from approximately 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Ceremonies will begin at 9 a.m.
