Spotted lanternfly informational videos available

In conjunction with Penn State Extension, Sen. Judy Schwank has released six instructional videos relating to the identification and control of the spotted lanternfly.

In the videos, three Extension educators – Emelie Swackhamer, Amy Korman and Don Seifrit – show us how to identify Tree of Heaven, a known favorite of the insect, and how to use a few control measures.

Berks County Early Bird Fiddle Festival set for June!

Plans for the 36th annual Berks Country Early Bird Fiddle Festival are finalized and this year we are excited to again be part of the 2018 Berks Country Fest: An Americana Music Jamboree!

Girls on the Run hosts 5K at Penn State Berks May 19

Community runners and walkers are invited to join the Girls on the Run Spring 2018 5K on Saturday, May 19, at the Penn State Berks campus located at 1800 Broadcasting Road.

This non-competitive 5K fun run/walk is open to community members of all ages and fitness levels. At the event, over 480 Girls on the Run program participants in grades 3-8 from across Berks County will finish their first 5K, after completing the 10-week Girls on the Run personal development program at their local school.

Applying for veterans benefits should never come with a fee

Veterans and their dependents should never pay for help to apply for veterans’ benefits, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA). That’s because federal and state law makes provisions for accredited veterans service organizations to provide free advice and assistance to veterans as they apply for veterans’ benefits.

'Bones and BioArcheology' to be subject of Hopewell Furnace program
